About

I am a wife, mother of 3 kids and one crazy Golden Retriever. This site is primarily being used for journaling the memories we create together as a family. Our 3rd daughter was born with Down syndrome and I found it to be very helpful in the first month of her life to read about other families who have gone through similar situations and seeing the beautiful memories they create.

Reading these other blogs has been very therapeutic for me. Here’s one thing I have learned from other blogs of similar situations: life goes on. I am not saying I have overcome all of my fears about my child’s future, far from it, but she is a child first and most importantly a baby, a tiny human being capable of so much. Above all else, she needs me to love her and treat her the same way I treat her sisters. The more time I spend with her, the better I feel about her future. It is important I remind myself everyday to try my best to ‘live in the moment’.

I have a tendency to worry about the future of all my children not just Cecilia; Will Abby benefit more from a public school setting considering her social personality, will Phoebe learn to enjoy the sand, will Bear always have good dental hygiene, will Cecilia always be my little cuddle bug and on and on it goes until I tell myself, ‘live in the moment’, enjoy these little people right now because in a couple of years, they won’t let me put their hair in piggy-tails, they won’t let me dress them in dresses and blue jeans, they won’t want to help me in the kitchen…

Journaling the memories we create together as a family while doing our best to live in the moment.

  3. I friend of mine shared the blog below with me after I started one of my own – just for writing. Kelle is a wonderful writer and takes amazing pictures. She has two beautiful little girls and the youngest was born with Downs as well. When I came across your blog I thought you might like checking her out….

    • Thank you Tritenerlnhohn! Funny, a good friend of mine also directed me to her website 2 months after Ceci was born…she was the fourth one I read…and sure enough, she stuck. I check in at least 3 times a week to see beautiful Nella. Thanks for passing it on! It’s nice to have a network of people who are going through or have been through similar situations!

I can’t wait to check out your blog!
